Jangipur Muniriah High Madrasah (H.S.)

The institution is a well known higher level State Government aided Model Madrasah under West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education. The Madrasah is situated at a prime location of Jangipur Town which belongs to Jangipur Sub-Division of Murshidabad District.

Jangipur Muniriah High Madrasah (H.S) is one of the ancient modern -styled educational institutes in Jangipur sub-division of Murshidabad district. It was set up on 2nd January 1906 by Late. Haji Moniruddin Ahmed, a secular, philomath and erudite in Islamic learning of that time in Jangipur.

First, this institution started under the name of ' Rahamanpur Maktab' in 1906 to meet the local demand of secular and religious education. For the purpose of establishment of the said institution, a meeting was held at Silk Kuthi (Mohammadpur) in Jangipur under the presidenship of Mr. Amal Krishna Mukherjee, sub-divisional Magistrate, Jangipur. In this meeting twelve members including Haji Moniruddin Ahmed were present. In the meeting it was decided that during his life time Haji Moniruddin Ahmed would come in the Managing Committee of the said institution as a founder member of the same and after his demise there would always be one founder member in the Managing Committee of this institution from his living lineage. The present institution was formerly a Maktab which was raised to the status of a Junior Madrasah named Rahamanpur Junior Madrasah on 1st March, 1915. Later, it was renamed as Jangipur Junior Madrasah on 18th Aug’ 1915. It adopted the reformed course of studies from the beginning. A grant of Rs. 26 was sanctioned for three years

w.e.f 1st Dec’ 1915. After 10 years, the junior madrasah had been raised to the status of a senior one named Jangipur Senior Madrasah in 1925. Later, It was elevated to High Madrasah in 1928 under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dacca, in the undivided Bengal before independence. Since its inauguration, this institution has gradually flourished defeating all the challenges it confronted and held its head high.

The Madrasah has been upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 1998 under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Apart from Bengali and English, Arabic, History, Geography, Philosophy, Education, Political Science, Economics, Health& Physical Education,Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biological Science, Environment Studies, Data Science, Computer Science and Computer Application subjects are being taught presently at Higher Secondary level.

The madrasah has been playing a vital and significant role in the educational, social and intellectual history of Murshidabad in both pre and post independent Murshidabad, India . In course of time, under the stable stewardship of its illustrious Headmasters, wholehearted full co-operation of its able Staffs and Members of the Managing Committee made this Madrasah as one of the pioneer educational institutions of the district as well as of the state. This well known establishment acts as a 'one-stop-destination', serving students from both local and outsiders .

Now it has more than 4500 students and a band of committed, dedicated and professional faculty members who impart quality educations to children. Bengali is the medium of instruction of this leading institution. It has a well decorated library having a qualified librarian and 3250 books in total at present. This institution has both Arts and Science streams at Higher Secondary level and has Vocational Courses as well. It has well equipped laboratories of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Computer Application. Computer Science, Data Science, Health & Physical Education. Smart Classes are being conducted for advanced students for different subjects through projectors and updated versions of computer software with high speed Internet and Local Area Network (LAN) connection through Computer Aided Learning (CAL) method.

Many tournaments of different games and sports are organized in this playground throughout the year. This playground has a pivotal role in making many states and national level sports personalities of this locality.
